The forest has always been a constant presence in Cristobal’s daily life, whether for leisure or sports, for relaxing or health-focused hikes, a place for personal growth and inspiration. Whether in his local region or further afield on his travels, discovery and curiosity have always fueled his deep connection with nature.

Initially, his forest-inspired artwork reflected a desire to recreate realistic scenes through an impressionistic vision, where the seasons and the changing light of day create a unique equation in each location.

Now, this allows for a freer and more creative style of painting. This approach doesn’t exclude the photographic references drawn from so many accumulated images, but it provides a starting point for creative exploration, where places and three-dimensionality are recognized; various elements, distances, and depths are explored, but within a composition that departs from realistic representation, particularly in the synthesis of the subject, in the use of color, and in the painterly treatment.

Several technical means are explored to create a vigorously colored and dynamic composition, through compositional strategy, impasto, and chromatic contrast.

These works are executed on gallery canvas with painted sides.
