Academy Cristobal / Drawing and Painting Advance School

HISTORY

The academy Cristobal comes out from the academy of his mother Silvia Araya founded in Québec in 1978. Since its foundation, Silvia Araya has teaches and formed a large amount of artist. They register on 23 years 1200 students. She teaches until 2000.

In 1994, Juan Cristobal Pinochet founded in Boucherville, a second academy Silvia Araya, that will hold that name until 2003; today Academy Cristobal.

He direct this school after the traditions of his mother academy teaching to all levels and ages all the essentials elements of the pictorial art; composition, anatomy, perspective, and medium techniques such as; graphite, charcoal, sanguine, ink, watercolour, pastel, acrylic and oils.

An intense program formed versatile and polyvalent artists, connoisseurs of traditional artist’s techniques with a classic realistic vision as grand masters Rembrandt, Vermeer, Chardin, Corot, Jérôme and Sargent.

The academy offered his classes over three seasons of weekly terms from September to June. During the summer, week cams were offered to children from July to august.

Since 2003 Juan Cristobal has radically change the structure of the academy.

From that date, only intermediate and advance adult students have take in charge at the academy. The classes are offered under an intensive week-end master workshops structure.

Since September 2005 the academy has been established in Québec city.

With the partnership developed with Academy Portrait International and counting with the availability of the Visual Arts center, University Laval at la Fabrique, the academy Cristobal offers 24 intensive week-end formations every year in Québec region.

From now on, all artist and art amateurs can attend to the academy instructions and workshops in both areas; Montreal and Québec.

Since 2007, a weekly class is offered permanently in St-Irénée, Charlevoix, from October to May.

In 2008 the academy adds to the calendar a second plein-air workshop on spring.

This same year, with a great success, the “Objective Analysis” Seminars in the museums of Québec and Montreal are added to the calendar.

The result of this impressive structure could not be possible with out the precious collaboration of renowned academician teachers Denis Jacques, Viviane Roman, Chantal Ouellette and Suzanne Godbout; colleagues and long time friends.

Today, the academy Cristobal offers three calendars per year; fall, winter and spring, for each of the two academies. A total of forty formations are offered annually.
